Numbers taken badly cost more than numbers missing. Stand as you normally stand — do not hold your breath or pull the tape tight.
Around the fullest point, tape level under the arms and parallel to the floor at the back.
The narrowest line, usually a finger above the navel. Bend sideways once — the crease is your waist.
Feet together, around the fullest part of the seat — usually 20 cm below the waist.
Note the date beside the numbers. Bodies move through a year, and a brief from old numbers fits an old body.
